WarPlane was supposed to be a simple, polished, dogfight mobile game.
Design wise, I wanted to create a fluid experience based on the feeling of making a plane do moves like dodges and looping with only one finger as input.
To simplify the controls as much as possible, the plane shoot automatically when enemies are in front of it.
I did many iterations to get the clouds right and I especially like when you exit a cloud and a small trail follows you.
One of the idea was to play with depth: make the plane get close to the camera during the loopings or see the next enemies coming at a lower level.
A garage is available to customize the plane. Thanks to Rox’ the prototype got multiple 3D models for the planes parts. She did a great job at modeling modular parts that allow the creation of very different planes.
